Walnut Canyon Bridge marks 100 years

Though it’s no longer open to cars, the Walnut Canyon Bridge near Flagstaff has been standing for 100 years.

  • 35th Avenue will be closed in both directions at Loop 101 from 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4.
    • DETOUR: Drivers may consider using the east- and westbound frontage roads to navigate around the closure.

Upcoming closures

  • Westbound Loop 101 will be closed between 51st and 75th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10.
    • The north- and southbound Interstate 17 ramps to westbound Loop 101 also will be closed, as well as the westbound Loop 101 on-ramps at 27th and 35th avenues.
    • DETOUR: Drivers may consider taking westbound Union Hills to navigate to their destination or reconnect with Loop 101.
       
  • The eastbound HOV lane between 75th and 67th avenues will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10.
     

UPDATE: Ongoing lane restrictions

  • UPDATED: The closure of east- and westbound Loop 101 high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes between 31st and 43rd avenues will be lifted on Saturday, Aug. 1.
    • The HOV lanes between 43rd and 51st avenues will continue to be closed through Aug. 8.
       
  • The eastbound Loop 101 frontage road is reduced to one lane between 37th and 35th avenues through late September.

  • Eastbound Loop 202 will be closed between Price Road and Arizona Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10.
    • The southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) ramps to eastbound Loop 202 also will be closed. 
    • DETOUR: Loop 101 drivers may consider using Chandler Boulevard to Arizona Avenue to access eastbound Loop 202. Eastbound Loop 202 drivers may consider using Price Road to Frye or Germann roads to reconnect with Loop 202 beyond the closure.
