The Arizona Department of Transportation started construction this summer to replace the riding surface along a 23-mile section of State Route 95. The pavement project is between Courtwright Road in Mohave Valley and Bullhead Parkway in Bullhead (mileposts 227 to 250).

Work includes:

  • Removing the top layer of pavement and replacing it with new asphalt. 
  • Replacing curb and gutter, sidewalk ramps, pavement markings and other related work.

What to expect during construction

Lane restrictions will be limited to overnight hours only. No restrictions are anticipated to be in place during the day or weekends. Business access will be maintained during construction.

The restrictions include:

  • Overnight intermittent lane restrictions on north- and southbound SR 95 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. 
  • Drivers should be prepared for delays up to 15 minutes.
  • One lane will remain open in each direction. 
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zones.

ADOT reminds drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment while the restrictions are in place.

Project Schedule 

Work to remove and replace the sidewalk ramps took place during the summer. Paving started in October, and is expected to be finished in early 2024. 

Schedule subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen factors.

Nighttime paving is underway on State Route 95 between Courtwright Road and Bullhead Parkway

Expect brief delays and allow extra travel time

Nighttime paving on State Route 95 is underway near Courtwright Road in Mohave Valley.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is reminding drivers in the Bullhead City area to prepare for overnight lane restrictions on State Route 95 as a new pavement project  is underway between Courtwright Road and Bullhead Parkway (mileposts 227-250).

Nighttime paving started this week near Courtwright Road (milepost 227). After the northbound lanes are completed, crews will pave the southbound lanes on the same segment of SR 95.

Motorists should allow extra travel time while the following nighttime restrictions are in place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings:

  • Portions of SR 95 will be narrowed to one lane within the project area. 
  • Flaggers and a pilot car will guide drivers through the work zone.

  • A 16-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.

  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

  • Drivers should be prepared to come to a complete stop when approaching and driving through the work zone.

This is the first of two paving projects starting on SR 95. The second pavement project, which will be between Sara Park and Interstate 40 (mileposts 176 to 202)  is scheduled to start Sunday, July 9. ADOT will provide additional information on the second project as soon as construction information becomes available.
