The Arizona Department of Transportation started construction this summer to replace the riding surface along a 23-mile section of State Route 95. The pavement project is between Courtwright Road in Mohave Valley and Bullhead Parkway in Bullhead (mileposts 227 to 250).

Work includes:

  • Removing the top layer of pavement and replacing it with new asphalt. 
  • Replacing curb and gutter, sidewalk ramps, pavement markings and other related work.

What to expect during construction

Work to remove and replace the sidewalk ramps is currently underway. Paving is expected to begin in September, and be finished in December. 

Lane restrictions will be limited to overnight hours only. No restrictions are anticipated to be in place during the day or weekends. Business access will be maintained during construction.

The restrictions include:

  • Overnight intermittent lane restrictions on north- and southbound SR 95 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. 
  • Drivers should be prepared for delays up to 15 minutes.
  • One lane will remain open in each direction. 
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zones.

ADOT reminds drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment while the restrictions are in place.

State Route 95 Courtwright Road - Bullhead Parkway pavement project begins Sunday, June 25 

Drivers should use caution and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising Mohave County-area drivers to prepare for overnight lane restrictions over the next year as a 23-mile pavement project is set to start on State Route 95 between Courtwright Road and Bullhead Parkway (mileposts 227-250).

Construction will begin at Courtwright Road in Mohave Valley and progress north to Bullhead Parkway. Motorists should be prepared to slow down in the work zone and expect brief delays while the following restrictions are in place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings:

  • SR 95 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction starting Sunday evening, June 25. Only a portion of the project area will have the restrictions in place beginning at Courtwright Road.No work will take place Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Construction will resume following the 4th of July holiday at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 5.

The restrictions will be ongoing until construction is completed in summer 2024.

This is the first of two paving projects starting on SR 95. The second pavement project, which will be between Sara Park and Interstate 40 (mileposts 176 to 202)  is scheduled to start Sunday, July 9. ADOT will provide additional information on the second project as soon as construction information becomes available.
