PHOENIX – The results are in for the Arizona Department of Transportation’s second Name-A-Snowplow Contest and Arizonans have chosen some humorous and creative names. 

After tabulating more than 9,500 votes, the winning snowplow names are:

Some of the most visible work to rebuild a section of I-10 in the Tucson area is quickly progressing as work crews have now set more than 80 bridge girders in place and installed large sections of the new concrete driving surface.

The widening project will increase capacity and reduce congestion on a busy section of I-10 near Wild Horse Pass within the Gila River Indian Community.

PHOENIX – Three new names will soon be placed on some of the Arizona Department of Transportation’s snowplows after Arizonans submitted about 3,400 entries last month in ADOT’s second Name-A-Snowplow Contest.

Starting today, the public can go to azdot.gov/NameAPlow to vote for their favorite names. The three names that receive the most votes will be crowned the winners and placed on the driver’s side of snowplow cabs. Voting is open through Thursday, Feb. 15.

Most specialty plates cost $25 each year. Of that amount, $17 goes to a designated charity or nonprofit group. Last fiscal year sales of specialty plates contributed over $12 million for various causes and charities.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is using a new tool to battle winter storms: two high-capacity snowblowers that reduce the time needed to clear highways after heavy snowfall.
