The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and expect delays as westbound I-10 will be closed between Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday, May 3, to 4 a.m. Monday, May 6, for paving and bridge work.

Motorists who travel on US 60 between Miami and Superior should plan ahead for about six months of three times-a-week daytime closures starting Wednesday, May 15, as rock blasting begins for a project to replace the Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon bridges.

PHOENIX – Arizona Department of Transportation crews are removing vegetation, grading the roadway and repairing drainage culverts to prepare for a project that will restore limited access to a stretch of State Route 88 (Apache Trail) that has been closed since severe flooding in 2019.

The work is preparing the roadway for a $4 million interim project scheduled to begin this summer that will make the 5 unpaved miles that remain closed near Fish Creek Hill east of the Phoenix area (mileposts 222-227) accessible to high-clearance four-wheel drive vehicles and utility task vehicles.

The agreement with eX2 Technology is to operate, maintain and lease space in fiber-optic conduit installed along Interstate 17 and Interstate 19, and being installed later this year along much of Interstate 40.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and expect to use detours as eastbound I-10 will be closed between I-10 and Mill Avenue from 10 p.m. Fri., April 26 to 4 a.m. Mon., April 29 for overhead signage work.

That closeness to oncoming traffic can come with serious safety risks when motorists speed through work zones or choose to drive dangerously. That’s why during this year’s Work Zone Awareness Week, ADOT is calling on motorists to be patient and alert when driving through work zones so everyone can get home safely. 

The northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale is scheduled to be closed for approximately 60 days, starting Monday, April 15, for reconstruction work as part of an ongoing freeway widening project. Learn more here.

The agreement, established in 2019, allows a state to assume decision-making and legal responsibility for meeting National Environmental Protection Act requirements and other federal environmental laws for projects.
