Hey, Pumpkin! Halloween is coming, and we’ve created a fun activity for kids of all ages to find the differences between two littered landscapes. Check out the activity here.

We’ve worked hard to emphasize the super-obvious fact that litter is ugly. And we need you to get wrappers from all that Halloween candy you’ll be collecting into wastebaskets and not onto roadsides.

So, what do you costumed kiddos have to do with litter? Well, hold onto your wrappers and water bottles!

The truth is every chocolate-filled paper box and the plastic wrapping surrounding those healthy granola bars (they're gross—we know) can drop into storm drains and wash out into beautiful deserts and waterways. You can be a superhero on Halloween and every day of the year by simply stashing your trash!

Also, Arizona has hundreds of highway miles ready for adoption. Schools, family and friends (ages 12+ years) are welcome to participate. For more information, please visit azdot.gov/adoptahighway.

ADOT Kids is a website created to spark children’s curiosity in how things work and what makes things go, tapping into their interest in science, technology, engineering and math in a fun way.  ADOT Kids has lots of free, downloadable activity sheets, links to videos and more!
