Applying for an Arizona Driver License
Travel Driver License
- Accepted at airport security checkpoints and federal facilities
- Has a gold star in the corner
- Valid for eight years in most cases

Effective May 7, 2025, only the Arizona Travel ID and Arizona Travel Driver License, a U.S. passport, and other federally approved identification will be accepted at TSA airport security checkpoints for domestic travel.
Non-Travel Driver License
Non-Travel Driver Licenses do not comply with federal identification requirements and cannot be used at TSA airport security checkpoints starting May 7, 2025.
The non-compliant credential will display NOT VALID FOR OFFICIAL FEDERAL PURPOSES across the front of the card.
Address Needs to be Current
If necessary, update your address at AZMVDNow.gov before you apply for either credential. Allow up to 15 days to receive it in the mail at the address listed on your application. A temporary credential receipt with photo will be issued at the office.
