Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for north- and southbound lane restrictions along State Route 95 in Quartzsite for road striping.

The following lane restrictions will occur daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday, June  2, and ending Thursday, June 5:

  • North- and southbound SR 95 between Main Street and milepost 116 will be reduced to one lane. Note: Only one direction will be impacted at a time. Motorists should anticipate a 1 to 2-mile lane restriction while crews progress through the work zone.
  • A 14-foot width restriction will be in place.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph.

Note: The traffic signals at SR 95 and Main Street intersection will temporarily be turned off for maintenance work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, and Thursday, June 5. Motorists should be prepared for a 4-way stop or a flagging operation at the intersection.

Delays are likely, so allow extra travel time. Proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

Greg Byres, our State Engineer and Deputy Director for Transportation, discusses projects starting, continuing and wrapping up this year in the Phoenix area, southern Arizona and northern Arizona.

For another installment of “how highway cross streets got their names,” we move onto the Loop 101 Pima Freeway.

We’ve completed past installments for these freeways:

Atop a bridge in Page, just a couple miles from the Arizona-Utah state line is a picturesque view or, if you’re afraid of heights, an absolutely terrifying one.

As we prepare to welcome 2025 and ring in the New Year, we thought we’d take one last opportunity in the waning days of 2024 to remind drivers to have a game plan for how to get home safely after the revelry of New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Eve day, you might see overhead message boards displaying a traffic safety message encouraging designate a driver.

If you own a dirt bike, ATV or even a snowmobile you might not know about a new state law taking effect in just a few days for owners of off-highway vehicles (OHVs).

Owners registering or renewing OHVs on or after Jan. 1 will be required to take a short safety course before completing the registration process.

Among the many blogs we've done on Navajo Bridge through the years is one looking at the long battle over the original name Grand Canyon Bridge, given that the bridge spans Marble Canyon and is quite a ways from the Grand Canyon proper. That's the subject of this episode of On the Road With ADOT.
ADOT has more than 100 specialty license plates featuring a range of worthy causes or charities. To boost awareness, we showcase one specialty license plate each week on social media.
