The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a project to replace the Virgin River Bridge No. 1 along Interstate 15 with a new bridge that will increase safety and help the regional corridor to continue carrying commerce for decades to come. The bridge replacement project is near the community of Littlefield.
I-17 Van Buren to Anthem Way

This project is complete

The Arizona Department of Transportation completed this project in June 2023. The project installed a high-speed fiber optic backbone along Interstate 17 from Van Buren Avenue to Anthem Way, connecting existing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices with new ITS improvements. This system connects Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) that provide drivers with real-time, traffic-related information, ramp metering and CCTV cameras along the corridor.

Interstate 17: Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Infrastructure Installation

Project Cost: $2.5 million

The Arizona Department of Transportation has completed a project to install high-speed fiber optic infrastructure along Interstate 17, between McGuireville Rest Area and Anthem Way (mileposts 297 - 229).

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), initiated an interim improvement project on Interstate 17 from the I-10/I-17 "Split" Interchange to 19th Avenue. Growing traffic demand has caused the I-17 corridor from the Split Interchange to 19th Avenue to become increasingly congested.
I-17 Frontage Road Drainage Improvement

The Arizona Department of Transportation constructed improvements to the cross street drainage system along the Interstate 17 frontage road between Greenway Road and Dunlap Avenue in Phoenix.
