We don’t normally talk about ourselves – the ADOT Communications Team – on this blog. We like it that way … but today we’re so excited that we’ve just got to tell you about a few honors our team received yesterday.

Hard to believe, but 10 years have passed since the first AMBER Alert was issued in Arizona… In that time, 70 AMBER Alerts have been issued in the state and all but one – the ongoing Jhessye Shockley case – were resolved successfully through a partnership between local radio and television broadcasters, law enforcement, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Arizona Department of Transportation and the public.

What is a roadway departure crash? By definition, a roadway departure crash is a non-intersection crash that occurs after a vehicle crosses an edge line or a centerline, or otherwise leaves the traveled way.

It may look like something out of the latest hi-tech spy movie, but our newly refurbished Traffic Operations Center is wonderfully real. This state-of-the-art electronic data hub is located in Phoenix and allows ADOT staff to keep a watchful eye on traffic conditions around the state.
