There is an impending federal change to High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane exemptions. HOV lane usage by alternative fuel vehicles is regulated by 23 U.S.C. 166(b).  This federal law was enacted in 2005 and includes an expiration date of September 30, 2025.

If Congress does not extend the exemption expiration date, owners of alternative fuel vehicles and vehicles with Energy Efficient plates

PHOENIX – The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 are closed in Tempe.

The closure is due to a crash after Broadway Road.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek an alternate route. 

There is no estimated time to reopen the eastbound lanes. The westbound lanes are unaffected.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers US 60 between Superior and Miami (mileposts 227-243) will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, Wednesday, Aug. 26, and Thursday, Aug. 27.

Detour: Eastbound US 60 drivers can use southbound State Route 177 through Winkelman to northbound SR 77. Westbound US 60 drivers may use southbound

Closures, restrictions set along Loop 101, Loop 202, SR 51 and SR 347

PHOENIX – Closures or lane restrictions are scheduled along several Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (Aug. 21-24), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should allow extra travel time and use detour routes as needed for these improvement project restrictions:

• Eastbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway

• Eastbound Loop 101 will be closed between 51st and 27th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24.
  • The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at 75th, 67th and 59th avenues also will be closed. The eastbound Loop 101 “Texas U-Turn” on-ramp near Union Hills Drive also will be closed.
  • DETOUR: Drivers may consider using eastbound Union Hills Drive or Bell Road to connect with

• Westbound Loop 202 will be closed between Lindsay and McQueen roads from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24. 
  • The westbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Val Vista Drive, San Tan Village Parkway, and Williams Field Road also will be closed.
  • DETOUR: Drivers may consider using westbound Pecos and Germann roads to reconnect with westbound Loop 202 at McQueen Road or Arizona Avenue.

Prepare for delays

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists traveling on Interstate 40 southwest of Kingman to expect daytime lane restrictions beginning Tuesday, May 28, through the end of October as crews replace the top pavement surface on a 14-mile segment of the interstate.

The following restrictions will be in place Mondays through Fridays beginning Tuesday

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the southbound Loop 101  on-ramp at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to be closed beginning at 1 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19 for approximately 60 days for ramp reconstruction as part of the current Loop 101 widening project.

DETOUR: Drivers may consider using the southbound Loop 101 frontage road to the Raintree Drive southbound on-ramp

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to prepare for restrictions and delays on State Route 79 from the Fannin-McFarland Aqueduct at milepost 132 (north of Salazar Street) to Jason Lopez Circle at milepost 135 in Florence while crews perform a pavement improvement project. The following restrictions will be in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23:

• US 93 will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel
