The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for alternating lane restrictions and frontage road closures on north- and southbound State Route 387 in Casa Grande from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22, through October, as work continues on the State Route 387 (Pinal Avenue) and Viola Street, High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) project.

The following restrictions will occur on weekdays: 

  • North- and southbound alternating lane restrictions on SR 387 (Pinal Avenue) between Viola and Saguaro streets.
  • The north- and southbound SR 387 (Pinal Avenue) frontage road will be closed between Viola Street and Silver Reef Road.
  • A 10-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place. 
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph.

ADOT advises drivers to plan ahead, allow extra time and use the designated detour route while closures are in place. Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors. 

Drivers should obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices and use caution around construction personnel.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is tentatively scheduled to begin a pavement rehabilitation project on Interstate 10, between the California/Arizona border and Dome Rock Road in La Paz County in late fall 2026.
