Sponsor Program - Adopt a Highway

Sponsor Program - Adopt a Highway

The Sponsor Program allows Arizona businesses to contract through a preapproved maintenance provider to remove litter in the busier urban areas where more frequent removal is necessary.

Since the inception of the program in 1997, the sponsor list continues to grow with companies committed to giving back to their community and promoting litter removal along our highways.

The following firms have been approved as maintenance providers for ADOT’s Adopt a Highway Sponsor Program. The Arizona Department of Transportation does not warrant or recommend any single provider.  Please contact these providers regarding specifics of the program.

Phoenix Metropolitan Area

These professional maintenance and marketing organizations provide litter removal service at no cost to the state by obtaining corporate sponsorships to fund their operations. In the Phoenix area, three of these companies traverse the entire valley removing the litter from the roadsides. Three to five thousand bags of trash are removed every month.

The sponsorship area is for one direction in a two-mile increment. Multiple areas may be sponsored by the same company as long as they are not adjacent to one another.

Sponsored areas are recognized with an acknowledgement sign that allows space for the company name. Acknowledgement signs are not intended to be an advertising medium or any kind of forum for public speech or political opinion. ADOT has the right to reject any signage it feels is obscene and/or would be detrimental to public safety and the traveling public. Please review the Adopt a Highway Sign Content Guidelines.
